Instructor Development Course – Overview
The Instructor Development Course (IDC) prepares candidates to become PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors (OWSI).
The two-week course is divided into two parts: Assistant Instructor (AI) and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program.
Successfully completing the AI course results in a PADI Assistant Instructor certification.
To earn the full PADI Instructor rating, candidates must successfully complete the Instructor Examination (IE), which will be evaluated by PADI Staff.
The IDC and IE together span a total duration of two weeks.
After the course, you will be confident in dive theory, in teaching confined and open water skills in a safe and controlled manner, and in conducting classroom presentations.
During the course, we will practice all of these skills multiple times until you gain enough experience to start working as an instructor after passing the IE.
IDC Staff
The staff during the IDC consists of various Staff Instructors and the Course Director, forming a highly international team that speaks several languages, including English, Spanish, Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish.
Environment
Conducting the IDC and IE in Mallorca, in the Mediterranean, gives you the opportunity to train in a calm environment and gain confidence teaching underwater.
We have several dive sites in the marine reserve of El Toro, which feature beautiful, clear, and shallow waters.
These sites offer the possibility to conduct confined water training in the sea, as well as in a pool if sea conditions are not optimal.
Additionally, the dive centre’s prime location—within walking distance of accommodations—enhances convenience, creating an ideal learning environment for aspiring instructors.
