Course overview:

The Search and Recovery Diver Specialty trains divers to effectively plan and conduct search operations underwater. Students learn to locate lost items, recover them safely, and use different techniques depending on the size, weight, and conditions of the environment.

What You’ll Learn:

• Search patterns using various methods (U-pattern, expanding square, circular search…) to systematically find objects
• Underwater navigation: applying compass use, natural navigation, and teamwork for efficient searches
• Recovery methods: use specialized equipment like lift bags to bring heavier objects to the surface
• Planning: assessing conditions, deciding on methods, and practicing buddy team communication

Certification requirements:

• Prerequisites: PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
